Neeraj Chopra Facts you didn't know!

  • Neeraj Chopra is an Indian javelin thrower who competes for his country. In the Indian Army, he is a Junior Commissioned Officer (Subedar).
  • In Panipat, Haryana, he lives in a mixed family with more than 17 additional relatives. He used to be a fat youngster who wore a white kurta-pyjama when he was younger. Sarpanch was the name given to him by the villagers of his hamlet.
  • When asked how he became interested in the javelin in an interview, he said,
  • “At the age of 11, I weighed 80 kilogrammes as an obese child. During my vacations, I went to the Panipat Stadium to stay in shape. My daily allowance was around Rs 30 and there were days when I didn't have enough money to buy a glass of juice. To get to the stadium, I took a 17-kilometer bus ride and returned with my uncle, who worked in Panipat city. Despite the fact that I was running to lose weight, I didn't enjoy it. I used to watch my senior Jaiveer, who has represented Haryana in javelin, train from a safe distance. I tried the javelin at his request one day. I realised I could throw it a long way, and that realisation helped me regain my confidence."
  • Neeraj said in an interview that his family and local people backed him up, and that his uncle Bheem Singh urged him to pursue a career in the javelin. He went on to comment about the absence of sports facilities in his area. ", he explained.
  • Due to a lack of resources, I left home when I was 14 years old. After class 9, my official schooling was disrupted. My aim is that peasants will not have to relocate to a metropolis in the same way that I did to Panchkula. Haryana athletes are competing at the national, international, and Olympic levels, but my town still lacks a playground. I need to practise on the road whenever I stay there. Every hamlet should have a stadium and instructors from the National Institute of Sports, Patiala, where I now train, if we are to become an Olympic nation."
  • Grandfather and uncle of Neeraj Chopra
  • Neeraj's father stated in an interview that his son was a mischievous child. He went on to say,
  • Neeraj loved to twirl buffalo tails when he was a kid. He used to annoy the elderly by bursting fireworks on occasion. His words bothered the entire household. I'm overjoyed to see a star on my son's shoulder. Satish Kumar, his father, stated they were a family of 17 people. Their eldest son was Neeraj. Neeraj began going to Shivaji Stadium during his gym sessions in Panipat. It was there that he met Binjhol javelin thrower Jaiveer."
  • Neeraj began his javelin training at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Panchkula, Haryana, and continued his training at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, Haryana, due to a lack of appropriate facilities.
